The Black Horse is a picturesque, 400-year-old traditional pub tucked down a side street in the tourist town of Braunton. It’s a real locals’ pub and something of a hidden gem.

It has a lovely black and white exterior, which gives way to a cosy bar area complete with various nooks to while away the hours. There is a small patio area to the side of the pub so customers can enjoy the sun or a barbecue, and there is a skittle alley at the back, which can double as a small area for private functions. Real ale is key to the offer at the pub too.

The Black Horse has a large open trading area with a small bar on the left-hand side of the pub as you come in. This space then opens up to the rest of the pub with various booths and different areas to suit whatever you have come to the pub for, whether it be eating, drinking, or just taking the weight off. At the far right of the pub is an open plan area with a pool table, but also ideal for watching sports. The inside has a traditional pub feel with wood flooring and thick stone walls.
