Mermaid Spiced Rum at 40% ABV is a blend of Caribbean rums, infused on the Isle of Wight with local fruits and spices – including our signature botanical rock samphire, Isle of Wight honey, fresh white cherries and apricots, black salt and holy grass. The unique spirit was inspired by a long history of Caribbean rums landing on Isle of Wight shores. Mermaid Spiced Rum is crafted from a carefully selected blend of sugar cane and molasses from sunny Trinidad and the Dominican Republic, distilled in column stills and aged between 2-5 years in oak bourbon whiskey barrels, then infused at the Isle of Wight Distillery with locally sourced and wild-foraged ingredients. A tropical island blend made for sipping on island time, Mermaid Spiced Rum is a smooth yet complex spirit with a hint of sea air, delicate caramel notes and vibrant fruity spice.

Rooted in the natural landscape of a unique island, they are the Isle of Wight’s first and only distillery. Founders Xavier and Conrad along with their small team distil spirits shaped by their stunning surroundings and the unique character of the island. Doing things differently, minimising waste, using ethically sourced and often local, foraged ingredients to craft a range of smooth, complex spirits.
Their signature spirit Mermaid Gin delivers a smooth yet complex blend of fresh organic lemon zest and peppery grains of paradise, with a hint of sea air from locally foraged, fragrant rock samphire – a refreshing and invigorating serve. Mermaid’s name was inspired by its lead botanical rock samphire, known locally as ‘mermaid’s kiss’.
Alongside Mermaid Gin, they produce subtly sweet, naturally flavoured Mermaid Pink Gin, infused with fresh Island strawberries grown in the rich and fertile microclimate of the Arreton valley and Mermaid Salt Vodka (a favourite with mixologists), using salt harvested from the flood tide off the island’s southern coast. Mermaid is naturally vegan and gluten-free.

Their spirit range also includes HMS Victory-branded Navy Strength Barrel-aged Gin and Rum, which incorporates real oak from the famous warship, in a unique and exclusive partnership with the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
