Spend a few hours at the Portsmouth Distillery on Friday, Feb 18th, 2022! Experience their bar, artisan pizza, the Rum Shack, and enjoy a night of amazing live comedy – right in the heart of historic Fort Cumberland.
THey have some fantastic comedians coming down – Jarred Christmas, Gareth Richards & the headliner; Angelos Epithemiou! With their appearances ranging from Russell Howard’s Good News, through to ‘Live at the Comedy Store’, ‘8 out of 10 Cats’, ‘ Come Dine with Me’ amongst many other tv shows, series, live shows and much more! MC’d (as always) by James Alderson!.

The Portsmouth Distillery sits in the heart of Fort Cumberland, a beautiful 18th Century fort on the southeastern tip of Portsea Island.
This idyllic, tranquil location has been a real inspiration for the creation of this world class gin.
They lovingly distil handmade small batches of fine Portsmouth Dry Gin using a recipe based on five key botanicals three of which are Elderflower, Gorse Flower and Sea Radish, foraged from the grounds of the Fort. When these are combined with our own blend of aromatic botanicals, they produce an exceptional gin which has a rich, full, floral bouquet, is silky smooth on the palate yet with a robust ‘Fort’ flavour and delicious warmth on the finish.
They were passionate that the Portsmouth distillery had to be somewhere on Portsea Island with history and a heritage (which this historic waterfront island has a plenty), to which they could connect.
Fort Cumberland, with it’s obvious history and role in the defence of Portsmouth harbour, and latterly its role in housing the Royal Marine’s Anti-Aircraft Brigade, all struck a chord with our founders, especially two with their naval service and in particular Anti Air Warfare background.
Tours will be restarting on the 20th of January, they are currently conducting some repairs and work around the Fort, to make it an even better experience for you all throughout the year!
Their on-site shop remains open within our usual hours, for you to pop in and buy your favourite gins, rums or some of our merch (such as a beanie – the weather really calls for it at the moment!)
