Let A Pub In Waltham Abbey – Run The Crown
The Crown is situated in the town centre of Waltham Abbey, which is a popular market town located in the Epping Forest area of Essex, a short distance from Cheshunt (3 miles), Enfield (5 miles), and Central London (15 miles).
The public house fronts ‘Romeland’ leading to blocks of residential properties fronting a large car park. It is set back one building from the corner of Highbridge Street, which is the main busy road through the town. Immediately surrounding are independent occupiers including an off licence, beauticians, an Indian restaurant, Waltham Abbey Town Hall, and Waltham Abbey Town Council. Behind the pub is Waltham Abbey Church, leading towards the pedestrianised Sun Street with occupiers such as Co-op, Dominos, Greggs, Ladbrokes, and a mix of predominantly independent restaurants and retailers.
Internally, there is a central trading area with 38 covers and bar servery to the left side wall. To the right-hand side is a snug area with 10 covers with sofa seating and access to the external trade paved area with benched seating for a further 28 covers. Customer toilets are located to the rear and the trading areas are in a good condition, decorated in a traditional public house style with beamed ceilings and a fireplace with exposed brickwork walls. There is also a small commercial kitchen in use with a storage area and bin store. There is a beer garden to the rear and side of the pub with bench seating.
The private accommodation is newly decorated and in a good condition and consists of a reception room, three double bedrooms, a bathroom, a separate WC, and a domestic kitchen. The Crown is a traditional local pub with a value pub grub menu, traditional bar snacks, and Sky TV/live sports. The local darts team enjoys using the darts throw to the front side of the pub and there are regular quizzes/DJs/cocktails and pub games that form part of the offer. There is room to improve on the basic food offer but wet sales will always dominate including the provision of good quality cask ale.
