The pub is on a main road close to Buxton Golf Club. Buxton is a historic town in the peak district with a population of about 21,000. The historic Derbyshire spa town sits close to the borders of Cheshire and Staffordshire and it is close to Macclesfield and Glossop. Buxton has good transport links with a train station and good road links, with Sheffield and Chesterfield both being under 30 miles away. Admiral Taverns are looking to build a business relationship with a licensee who is familiar with the area or has experience running a community style of pub.
Pub Layout
On entering the Bulls Head Buxton, you have two trading areas, each having their own servery. The first is a large room which houses the pool table and darts throw area. The second has a smaller servery with soft seating, up the spiral staircase is a large function room. The toilets can be reached by both these areas and there is a commercial kitchen which would need investment should the new licensee want to introduce a food offering and maximise the pubs full potential.
ACCOMMODATION
Private Accommodation at The Bulls Head Buxton. The domestic accommodation is on the first floor and consists of three bedrooms, a large lounge, bathroom and office/storeroom. The accommodation is basic and in reasonable condition. There’s also a kitchen/diner within the private accommodation which has recently been refurbished, but requires white goods adding. There are further rooms on the second floor however this area is unused and would need significant investment to make habitable, this area is not currently accessible.
TRADING STYLE
The Bulls Head Buxton is very much a community pub with a strong sport following and favourable drink trade. The pub has good mid-week footfall, mainly boosted by the various darts teams that play from the pub. Sky Sports plays a key part in the business along with a strong entertainment offer at the weekends. There is no food offer at present but could be introduced with some development to the commercial kitchen.
