The Plough is a well-positioned corner pub in the area of Tredworth, Gloucester. It is a doublefronted building, within the immediate area of Tredworth; a large residential area on the edge of Gloucester city centre. Tredworth has a diverse population including many families and people from a variety of ethnic groups. The Plough needs to appeal to a broader customer base including women and families. The Plough is a two-room operation with the serving bar linking both rooms in what becomes an “open” pub atmosphere. There is seating in total for around thirty people, but with some additional seating this could be increased to forty. The ladies and gents toilets are situated just off the large outside drinking area. This area has an open fire, and a lovely beer garden to the rear of the building.
The pub is a drink led business and we want to develop this with the introduction of a wider range of drinks, including good wines, premium spirits and more cask ales. There could even be a bottled craft ale-range to really stand it apart from the competition. There also needs to be a strong online presence with great social media interaction with the immediate area. Although the pub doesn’t currently have a food offer, we strongly believe the licensee could introduce a simple snack or back bar food offering which would help bring people in for longer. This pub is at the heart of the community and live sports and pub teams are essential services with a well thought out and well executed rhythm of the week focusing on events and reasons to visit. The bias in the area is towards Rugby Union with strong local support for Gloucester Rugby team.

The Plough is a interesting pub with many different attributes such as the attractive courtyard and having two trading rooms in the heart of such a large community. This pub would suit a person or couple with local knowledge and ideally an interest in rugby. They would want to be at the heart of the community perhaps by raising money for charity or by playing with the pub teams. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced licensee or whether the Plough would be your first venture into the pub sector, it’s your passion, drive and vision we’re looking for.
