Sea Horse Porthcawl

About this venue

17 South Road, Porthcawl, Bridgend CF36 3DH, UK

The Sea Horse is located just a couple of streets back from the seafront in the lovely town of Porthcawl. A wet-led, roadside business with its own car park, it has the benefit of a beer garden terrace and a large smoking shelter. This spacious open plan pub is traditionally appointed throughout, with modern finishes such as booths and fixed seating to complement the one-bar operation. The games area is mainly used for pool and darts, plus live bands and entertainment are accommodated at the weekends. The pub presents a fantastic business opportunity for an enthusiastic publican, who can drive wet sales with the provision of entertainment and social events, and establish a good rapport with the local community.

Both the front entrance on South Road and side entrance on Fenton Place lead into the large, open-plan trading area. With a central ‘L’ shaped bar, it is decorated in a traditional style, and several comfortable booths are fitted around the room, facing the bar. From the side entrance, one is greeted by the bar servery, to the right of which leads around to the pool table. With fixed seating, bar stools, as well as conventional tables and chairs, the pub easily caters for over 30 covers. The space is well laid out for customers to enjoy drinks, watch sport and play pub games. The interior layout is quite adaptable, being regularly used for live entertainment and music nights, playing host to local bands.

Set on a corner, the pub has two external entrances, one directly from the street and the other through the beer garden patio. The high season attracts many visitors to Porthcawl and the patio is a real sun trap which benefits from a large lean-to shelter. To the rear of the pub is a car park for 10 vehicles. The majority of pubs within the area do not provide parking facilities, so this is of great advantage for families, tourists and day trippers.
