The Telstar is a popular community pub located within the heart of a large housing estate. The entrance to the left takes you into the main bar - a fairly big room that is divided into two areas. On one side there is a traditional stone floored games area with a pool table and dartboard, while the second area features relaxed lounge-style seating with carpeted floors, a mixture of fixed and loose furniture and a large bar servery towards the back wall. The room is decorated with a significant amount of sports and music memorabilia, and has several televisions for customers to enjoy live sports. To the left of the bar there is a doorway into a hall which gives access to the ladies toilets, the private accommodation and the very impressive lounge bar. This good sized room has the added advantage of having a stage, so it is frequently used to put on live entertainment, discos, etc. as well as being used for private parties and functions for the local community. It would also make a great area for dining as there is already a small catering kitchen located behind the bar. This includes all the essential equipment to service an everyday food offer in addition to providing buffets for the function trade. Outside you will find a horseshoe shaped car park surrounding three sides of the pub that provides a considerable amount of parking. The area to the front of the site provides an ideal outdoor drinking space with a number of picnic benches to encourage extra trade in the warmer months, and to the side of the pub is a covered smoking shelter.
The private accommodation is located on the first floor and is accessed through the inner hallway. It is in very good condition as the current licensee has recently redecorated throughout including new carpets. We are looking for a licensee that has the drive, ambition and enthusiasm to further develop this great pub. A visible, hands on approach and the ability to become immersed in the local community will be crucial to its success. Marketing skills will play a key role in helping to grow the business further through the effective use of everything from A-Boards to social media platforms. An experienced licensee will appreciate the significant opportunity that exists to develop a food offer and introduce cask ale. However, previous experience of running a pub is not essential as we offer the training and support for a first time licensee looking to run their own pub business. The successful licensee will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service to the existing and new clientele.
