The Ye Olde Yew Tree Inn Westbere Nr Canterbury

About this venue

32 Westbere Lane, Canterbury, Kent CT2 0HH, UK

The Yew Tree is a 14th-century pub, built in 1348, situated in the small village of Westbere, with a single small bar, trade kitchen and restaurant for 60 covers, a car park for 12 cars and a beer garden and covered area.

The pub proved to be very popular back in the day, back when Her Majesty Queen Anne was reputed to have stayed there at some point during her reign of England, Scotland and Ireland between 1702 and 1707.

Even the Archbishop of Canterbury was reputed to have stayed there, along with the likes of infamous highwayman Dick Turpin.

Dick Turpin was seen lurking around the establishment, as the highwayman evaded capture from the law by hiding out at this spot.
