The Union is a town centre tavern with good food reputation, quality draught and cask ales. This historic building was once a coaching inn and is already a strong performer. The pub can be accessed via a side door from the front archway or a second door via the courtyard. There is a single, central bar counter that serves the main trade area as well as the three cosy snugs which are situated to the front, side, and rear, accommodating 50 covers. The bar itself has a dark oak finish with brass rails and beams to the ceiling. The bar stands alongside a long drinking area that has unusual, curved windows facing into the courtyard at the side of the pub. The décor is traditional with patterned carpets, flagstone flooring and wooden ceiling beams, providing plenty of character which you would expect to find in such an old building. The commercial kitchen is moderately-equipped and capable of delivering a basic menu of hot and cold food. The Union Cross a cobbled courtyard with picnic benches provided for outdoor drinking.
