About the Pub – The Red Lion Dorchester
The Red Lion cannot be missed by travellers on the A352, and visitors to the pub drive off the road over a quaint stream to access the large car park. There is significant open green space at both the front of the pub and in the pub garden to the rear, which has an attractive children’s play area. The spacious bar has several areas for relaxing and dining in comfortable surroundings.
The lobby to the toilets also contains stairs up to lettings rooms. There is a good sized trade kitchen and cellar, all on the ground floor, and the pub also enjoys good storage facilities and office space.
The village of Winfrith, with a population of nearly 1000, is situated some 8 miles west of Wareham and 10 miles east of Dorchester and Weymouth. The village is the gateway to the stunning Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coast, which is only 4 miles from the pub. Other popular tourist attractions nearby include Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum. The proximity of Bovington army camp provides an all year round trading opportunity in addition to affluent local village trade. Wool train station is two miles away but the majority of trade derives from cars using the busy A352.
