Are you ready for the new Simpler Waste Recycling Regulations?
New Government Legislation affects all businesses and non-domestic premises in England. This will include retailers and restaurants, construction sites and care homes, prisons and places of worship, schools and storage facilities, hotels and hospitals and any other type of premises acting as a place of business. You will be legally obligated under The Separation of Waste (England) Regulations 2024 to segregate dry recyclables (plastic, metal, glass, paper and card), food waste, and general residual waste. The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have made clear that there is no exception for producers to not segregate and recycle materials in the scope of this legislation.
For all businesses with 10 or more Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) employees, you are obligated to segregate the relevant waste streams by no later than 31st March 2025.
