The Black Dog is the only pub in Waverton, a large and affluent village on the outskirts of Chester. The pub is particularly popular for quality food, great selection of beers and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Currently operating from one large trading area which is set out for both drinking and dining with more than 80 covers and a large ornate bar servery supplying a good range of beers and lagers as well as three hand pumps for cask ales. Currently the decor is slightly dated however the planned refurbishment will address this and create a real platform for growth. Other facilities include a large cellar that is in excellent condition and a medium sized trade kitchen which is clean, tidy and fully operational. The external areas are extensive and have views out over the surrounding countryside. There are two patios to the rear, both with garden furniture. The main patio has large umbrellas which are heated, allowing for all year-round use. In addition, car parking for over 100 vehicles is available to customers.
The private quarters are located upstairs and are in great condition as they have recently been redecorated by the outgoing publican. There are three bedrooms, a bathroom and a galley style kitchen. There is also a private office incorporated into these quarters.
